Chief: There's a copy of the interns' exam on the table. And a number two pencil and a bottle of water and a sandwich if you get hungry. I assigned a proctor and I will come back in a few hours to check on you.
[The Chief starts to leave]
Meredith: You're not my father.
[He stops immediately and looks at her]
Chief: I know that.
[They exchange a look, then he pulls her into a hug. Relieved, she sinks in his arms and starts to cry]
